Penclawdd Youth 8 Dunvant Youth 17
Morgan Jones crashed over for two tries as Dunvant Youth booked their place in the EF District Cup semi-finals.
It was a tough, no quarter given encounter but Rob Murphy’s team controlled the second half using the elements well.
But Dunvant had to show real character at times as they were on the wrong end of the penalty count and also had to deal with two yellow cards for Sam Powell and Nathan Founds.
Some dominant play against the wind saw Jones claim his first try after 10 minutes before Penclawdd replied with a penalty.
The Donks will have regretted not scoring more significantly having had the wind in the first half and they paid for it after the break.
Jones (pictured) was over for his second after an efficient driving maul from a line-out.
And though Penclawdd scored a consolation try at the end, the game was all but put to bed by Jamie Parry’s try 10 minutes from the end, a score converted by Sam Powell.
As well as grabbing a welcome semi-final spot it was revenge for Penclawdd’s league victory at Broadacre before Christmas.
