DUNVANT START 1 WEST CENTRAL CAMPAIGN AT GLYNNEATH RFC (Sep 7th)
Dunvant 1st XV travel to Glynneath RFC, for our first game in 1 West Central since the 2014-15 campaign when we finished in 4th place
Our opponents this weekend, Glynneath RFC were Champions of Division 1 West in 2013-14 and were promoted to the Championship league for the 2014-15 season where they finished 10th of 14 followed by 12th of 14 for the 2015/16 season. In 2016/17 Dunvant were promoted from Division 1 West to the Championship where we battled bravely but finished 12th and were relegated back to 1 West where we have finished in 2nd place for the last two seasons. Glynneath were relegated from the Championship in 12th place in 2017/18 and finished a very creditable 3rd place last season in 1 West Central behind Champions Ystalyfera and runners up Bonymaen.
With Glynneath having the bragging rights over Dunvant by winning both games in 2016/17 this will be a challenging game for Dunvant as we play in Division 1 West Central against a host of opponents we have not met within recent seasons.
Elsewhere our 2nds start their campaign at home against Waunarlwydd in the WRU Conference Central league whilst our Youth host Vardre in the Ospreys Youth league C-West
