Dunvant lost their first home game in the South Wales League, the first for many years to a good Morriston side who won by 49 runs.

Morriston won the toss and decided to bat. The Dunvant opening bowlers Ryan Howell and Lee Tucker kept the Morriston batsmen on their toes picking up 3 wickets between them with good support from Ieuan Phillips and Johnny Welch, Welchy picking up a wicket with an economical 8 overs for 22 runs. A late 33 scored by former Wales Outside Half Arwel Thomas took the Morriston total to 181 for 6 but all round a good bowling performance by Dunvant.

In return, the Dunvant opening batsmen, including Dunvant Stalwart Ceri Phillips, were looking comfortable seeing out the intitial 10 overs however two unforced errors led to catches behind and the pressure was again on the middle order. Gareth John batted with confidence and hit some lovely boundaries however had little in the way of support as wickets continued to tumble around him. A late partnership with 11th man Johnny Welch who also batted with flair for his 13 (including another reverse sweep for 4!) but unfortunately too little too late. Gaz ended with 61 not out but Dunvant short by 49 runs.

A better performance in the field by the boys who will be looking turn things around with another home game on Saturday against Ynystawe plus a possible home cup game vs Gowerton on Sunday.
