Dog mess, which can cause blindness,is a problem at Dunvant Rugby Club and is a huge threat to the hundreds of children who play on our three pitches

Dog mess is the most unacceptable and offensive type of litter imaginable. Dog fouling is not only deeply unpleasant, it is dangerous. Contact with dog excrement can cause toxocariasis – a nasty infection that can lead to dizziness, nausea, asthma and even blindness and seizures.
It’s no wonder dog fouling is such a problem – there are estimated to be more than 8 million dogs producing more than 1,000 tonnes of mess every day in the UK alone.

At Dunvant Rugby Club we have numerous people who are walking their dogs through the club to access the cycle track. We ask those dog walkers to keep their dogs on a lead whilst walking through our grounds.

What is NOT acceptable are the number of dog walkers who think it is O.K to let their dogs walk or run around our acres of grass, drop their mess and not pick it up. Dunvant Rugby Club is private property. Whilst many dog owners are caring, responsible individuals, there are still some people who do not clean up after their pets. The law even states that being unaware a dog has fouled or not having a suitable bag is not a reasonable excuse.
We will prosecute you if we catch your dog messing on our property and you fail to pick it up. If the case goes to court this could cost the owner or person in charge of the animal up to £1,000.

You would not want your own children to go blind. Don’t let your dog cause other children to suffer through your selfishness.

PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR DOGS GO ON OR NEAR OUR PITCHES
